Be inspired by the the characters in our favorite stories and find creative solutions to help them solve their problems!
Our storybook friends need our help! Be inspired by the the heroines and heroes of our favorite stories and find creative solutions to help them solve their problems! Use the Engineering Design Process to build contraptions and accomplish tasks. Bring your creativity and maker skills. After each story, nerds are presented with a problem to help the characters from the book. Can you lure the Dogzilla puppies away from Mousopolis? Can you build an ice den for Knut the baby polar bear? Can you rescue Knuffle Bunny from the dreaded washing machine?!
This class is for creative nerds that love to build and love books. And WHO DOESN’T?
We are constantly making things in this class, but what exactly we are making is entirely up to YOU! How will you rescue the baby ducks in the storm drain? With a rope? A scoop? A ramp? What will you design to get safely over the waterfall? A crazy boat? A barrel? A glider? Let’s test it to see what works best!
Nerds will learn to use the Engineering Design Process to find solutions to problems. They will investigate the problem, imagine possible solutions, plan their best design, create a prototype to test, improve the design, and finally share with the class! We will also learn about Materials Engineering in this class. What are the properties of different materials? What materials are best for different purposes?
Your nerd will build and discover like these nerds have.
