Description

Grades

“Unlock” the wonders of the world! Pack your bags and get ready to travel! Learn about exotic places and ancient civilizations, and use that knowledge to crack codes, solve puzzles, and find keys! There are new wonders to explore and “escape” from each day. It’s amazing and shocking what we have learned about some of the incredible ancient cultures of our world, and equally shocking how much we still don’t know! Bring your adventurous spirit and problem solving mind.

We also have several other fun activities sprinkled in like playing the Mayan ball game of Pok-A-Tok (don’t worry, if you lose Pok-A-Tok at Nerding, we will NOT sacrifice you to the gods), carving sandstone like the ancient Nabateans of Petra, and designing your own “wonders”!

This class is for nerds who love histories and mysteries! And puzzles, and clues, and cyphers, and teamwork, and ah-ha moments!

After nerds solve the daily escape room challenges, they will work on several “wonders” of their own! Inspired by the locale of the escape and what we’ve learned about it’s rich history, nerds will design and build pyramids, sarcophagi, statues, and even cities!

  • The 7 wonder of the world in general
  • Easter Island and the Moai stone heads
  • Petra
  • Egypt and King Tut
  • Chichen Itza and the Maya
  • problem solving
  • teamwork
  • code breaking
  • ciphers
Our Big Nerds classes for grades 4-7, are engaging and exciting and vary greatly in content and structure, but in some form there is always direct instruction from the teacher, guided practice, and independent or small group work with help and support from peers and staff. We usually begin the day with a team building activity and move into our first lesson. Next is a hands-on activity or project. Halfway through the class, kids will take a brief recess and snack break. A second lesson follows break and the kids will do another project/activity or continue one they were working on. It’s always fun and engaging with hands-on projects!

Class is 3hrs each day, so bring a snack for break time. Also, bring your own refillable water bottle. Don’t have one? Add our Nerding water bottle to your order and pick up on first day of class!

Mrs Leos

I’ve been teaching since 2011 and I’m so excited to see the nerds solve the puzzles and learn about the wonders of the world! Where would YOU travel if you could go anywhere?

Mr Ben

I’m excited to teach this class again. It is one of my favorites!
